In November of 2025, we took a visit to Goalgetters Soccer School CIC who were playing at a local school in Port Talbot, to watch their Afan Valley tournament.

A year ago, Goalgetters received a large multi-year grant from our Future Generations Fund, in partnership with Principality Building Society, to get their soccer school off the ground.

Despite the rain, the entire day had such a buzzing atmosphere from everybody involved: players, volunteers, staff and funders alike!

While the tournament itself was competitive, what stood out most was the sense of community that surrounded the event and the friendships that had been created, which many of the children spoke fondly of.

We were really impressed to see how much the children loved being part of Goalgetters and the level of respect they had for one another, as well as leaders Ryan and Matty.

We’d like to extend our thanks to the staff and volunteers of Goalgetters Soccer School for allowing us to visit and see their work in action, as well as Principality Building Society for helping us to support such wonderful grassroots groups across Wales
