As part of the launch of our refreshed brand, we’re inviting a Welsh artist or illustrator to create an original digital artwork inspired by the themes at the heart of our organisation and our vision for the future.

In October 2026, we introduced a clearer story about who we are, what we do and the role we play within Wales. While our visual identity has evolved, our purpose remains the same: helping people, families, businesses and organisations invest in the places and causes they care about, turning philanthropy into impact across Wales.

To celebrate our refreshed brand, we’re pleased to announce a new £500 Creative Commission, giving Welsh creatives the opportunity to interpret the ideas that sit at the heart of Community Foundation Wales.

The brief

We’re looking for an original digital illustration or artwork inspired by one or more of the following themes:

  • Turning philanthropy into impact
  • Community philanthropy
  • The power of grassroots communities
  • Investing in the people, places and causes we care about

The commissioned piece should reflect the spirit of Community Foundation Wales and our vision of a Wales where philanthropy strengthens communities and creates lasting impact.

The commission

The successful artist will receive:

  • A £500 commission fee
  • The opportunity to have their work featured across Community Foundation Wales communications
  • Exposure through our website, social media and stakeholder communications
  • Potential consideration for future creative opportunities where appropriate

The final artwork may be used across:

  • Social media
  • Part of our Christmas 2026 communications
  • Supporter communications
  • Digital publications
  • Reports and marketing materials
  • Future brand storytelling activities

The successful artist will work closely with Community Foundation Wales to develop the final artwork. A draft concept will be shared during the process to ensure the finished piece reflects both the artist’s creative vision and the themes of the commission.

How to apply

Applications are open to artists and illustrators living in Wales. Young creatives aged under 18 are welcome to apply but will require the consent of a parent or guardian if selected for the commission.

  • A short introduction about yourself (maximum 300 words)
  • Up to three examples of relevant work
  • A brief statement outlining how you would approach the commission and respond to the themes

Applicants are not required to create finished artwork at application stage.

Applications should be sent to info@communityfoundationwales by Friday 13 November 2026

The successful artist will be selected by a panel made up of Community Foundation Wales representatives. Applications will be assessed on creativity, quality and response to the brief.

The successful creative will be notified during November 2026. As the artwork will form part of our Christmas communications, the final agreed artwork must be supplied by Friday 4 December 2026 to allow sufficient time for production and distribution.

Copyright and usage

The successful artist will retain copyright of the commissioned artwork.

Community Foundation Wales will receive a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use and adapt the artwork for print and digital communications, including social media, publications, marketing materials and future brand storytelling activities.

The artist may continue to showcase the work within their portfolio and promotional materials.
