My Background

I’m a Modern Languages graduate so spent a lot of time in France and Italy before settling back in Wales and beginning my career in public relations in Cardiff in the 1990s.

I’ve worked across a wide variety of public, private and third sector organisations, mainly as a communications consultant, both freelance and as part of an agency, apart from a short spell in-house with the ambulance service.

What I do

After a few years co-directing Golley Slater in Cardiff, I decided to rejoin the world of freelance to get involved in a wider variety of activities. Joining the board of trustees at Community Foundation Wales is part of that, so I’m excited to take on my first trustee role and explore how I may contribute.

Strategic communications consultancy best sums up what I now do, working with organisations on developing and embedding their communications to support their ambitions and objectives. I’m particularly passionate about the difference purpose can make to people, their organisations and their communications, and how storytelling helps build brand relationships.

Writing is a passion, so I also take on copywriting projects with pleasure.

Ask me about…

The commercial and organisational value of social purpose and social corporate contribution, brand, communications and storytelling.

Why I love Wales

I’ve lived around Cardiff and the Vale most of my life, and spent lots of time in the Rhondda, where all my family is from, while growing up.

I love the valleys humour, our capital city, the beauty and variety of our landscapes, our cultural breadth and our combined strength of diversity and national identity.

I feel lucky to belong to and raise my children in a small but punchy nation where contribution is possible and encouraged.

I’ve always returned because Wales has always been and remains a wonderful place to call home.
