Cardiff Community Endowment Funds

The Cardiff Community Endowment Fund is an umbrella of funds and donations dedicated to enhancing education and strengthening communities in Cardiff. The fund aims to provide educational bursaries for individuals in need for support with course fees (where assistance is not otherwise available) and grants towards the costs of course materials and activities.

Applications should meet at least one of the following priorities:

  • Educational attainment including lifelong learning
  • Support for talented individuals in the form of scholarships, educational materials or other resources

Applicants should demonstrate how they will meet the Fund’s objectives and priorities, especially with regard to financial and/or social need. Funding will be prioritised to those who would otherwise struggle to access education due to low family income or disability etc.

Grants available

Individuals can apply for a grant up to £500 per year for up to 3 years.

Who can apply?

Priority will be given to individuals pursuing further education who attended a Cardiff Secondary school or who have resided in the Local Authority area of Cardiff for at least 5 years, provided that the initiatives do not fall within statutory provision. The fund is unlikely to award further grants to individuals who have previously received support from this Fund.

How to apply?

Applicants must complete an online application form which can be accessed via our website.

Please note:

  • Grants will not be awarded retrospectively i.e. for costs incurred before receipt of our grant offer letter, and the signed terms and conditions have been returned.
  • Grants must be fully spent within one year of receipt of our offer letter.
  • The application must show a clear need for financial support, financial hardship or additional support needs.

Where you are applying to support a college course, we will request proof of enrolment prior to funding being released. In the case of multi-year grants, consecutive years will only be awarded upon receipt of a satisfactory monitoring report and proof of enrolment for the following year.

Individual applicants should provide a suitable reference which should be someone that knows you well but is not related to you or who lives in your household. This could be a teacher or tutor, a social worker or support worker, your manager etc. We will be contacting the reference, so please supply up to date contact details and seek permission to include them as a reference on your application before submitting
