Dal Dy Dir interviewed by HRH Duke of Cambridge

Dal Dy Dir, based in Mid Wales, provides a range of support for individuals and families with disabilities or those who are marginalised in their own communities. They have a smallholding where they grow produce, develop woodland skills and look after animals.

Due to the Coronavirus crisis, some group members are struggling to obtain supplies, access support networks and gain respite. A number are at extremely high-risk due to their health conditions and urgently need support.

Dal Dy Dir has received funding from Community Foundation Wales through the Wales Coronavirus Resilience Fund to adapt their project. They are now able to provide emergency respite sessions for those in the most severe situations, a 24 hour emergency helpline and are creating social media groups which will be vital for people who usually come together on the farm.

They work in partnership with FareShare to distribute leftover foods from supermarkets to supply people who are isolated or at risk. They are developing more space to allow them to grow emergency vegetable supplies and supplying more people with fresh produce from the farm.

They are also developing gardening packs to allow people to grow and harvest their own fresh produce. This will improve mental health and is helping to develop a social gardening community.

Natalie, from the Dal Dy Dir team, was interviewed by His Royal Highness, The Duke of Cambridge on April 12th. You can see the interview by clicking here.

The funding to support Dal Dy Dir has come from the National Emergencies Trust and Community Foundation Wales is pleased to be working in partnership to distribute this funding quickly and efficiently in Wales.
