New fund in memory of Pianist Annette Bryn Parri to inspire the next generation of Welsh musicians

A new charitable fund has been created in memory of the renowned Welsh pianist Annette Bryn Parri, to nurture and support young musical talent across Wales.

The Annette Bryn Parri Fund, established by her family and managed by Community Foundation Wales, will provide grants to help young people access lessons, instruments, and training opportunities, particularly those who might otherwise miss out. Over the next year, the family will be fundraising to grow the fund so that the first grants can be awarded later in 2026.

“This fund is a way for us to honour Annette’s life and passions – a woman who gave everything to music, her community, and the people she believed in. Through this legacy, we hope to give others the same encouragement and opportunity she so freely gave,“ said Annette’s family.

Born in Deiniolen, Gwynedd, Annette was celebrated not only for her remarkable musical talent but also for her warmth, generosity, and humour. After training at the Royal Northern College of Music, she became one of Wales’s most respected accompanists and musical directors, working alongside some of the nation’s greatest voices, including Bryn Terfel and Rebecca Evans. She was equally proud of her work with community choirs, charitable causes, and her commitment to making music accessible to all.

Katy Hales, Director of Philanthropy at Community Foundation Wales, said:
“Annette’s music touched so many lives and truly embodied the spirit of Welsh culture – passionate, generous, and rooted in community. This fund will carry that spirit forward, helping to shape the future of Welsh music for generations to come. We’re honoured to stand alongside Annette’s family in safeguarding her legacy, and we will use our expertise to ensure every gift to this fund has the greatest possible impact.”

The National Eisteddfod played a central role in Annette’s musical journey. Launching the fund during the 2025 festival in Wrexham is a fitting tribute to her legacy, in a place that celebrates the Welsh language, culture, and emerging talent – everything Annette believed in.

Donations to the Annette Bryn Parri Fund are now open and will directly help young people in Wales to pursue their musical ambitions. Annette’s family will also be hosting fundraising events and activities over the coming year, with the aim of donating more into the fund.
