£600,000 awarded to communities across Wales through Principality partnership

We’re delighted to share the latest round of funding awarded through our partnership with Principality Building Society, which has seen £600,000 invested in communities across Wales.

In this round, £500,000 has been awarded to 15 organisations through Principality’s Future Generations Fund, alongside almost £100,000 awarded to four organisations through the Retrofit for the Future Fund. Both funds support grassroots groups making a real difference – from helping young people thrive, to improving the energy efficiency of community buildings.

Since the funds launched in 2022, £2 million has now been awarded through the two programmes, which we deliver in partnership with Principality. Grants are awarded annually to non-profit organisations across Wales, including charities and community groups working directly with local people.

This year’s funded projects include organisations such as Mid Powys Youth Theatre, Stepping Stones North Wales, Newport Cricket Club, and Child of the Earth CIC in North Pembrokeshire, which provides inclusive, nature-based experiences for families of children with additional learning needs.

The funds reflect Principality’s long-standing commitment to social wellbeing, young people and environmental sustainability, aligning with the principles of the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act.

Nigel Taylor, Head of Brand, Impact & Communications at Principality Building Society, said the organisation was proud to see the impact of this year’s awards:

“Supporting communities across Wales and charitable giving are central to our values at Principality Building Society. As a mutual organisation, we reinvest up to 3% of our profits for the benefit of our Members – this commitment is a core part of our purpose, to build a fairer society. We’re so proud to see all the projects and organisations that have benefitted from this year’s funds. Both our Future Generations and Retrofit for the Future funds make a real difference to people’s lives across Wales and support important causes – a legacy we are firmly committed to.”

Richard Williams, Chief Executive of Community Foundation Wales, added:

“We’re proud to continue our partnership with Principality Building Society as we enter our fifth year of working together to support communities across Wales. Through the Future Generations Fund and the Retrofit for the Future Fund, this partnership has supported work with young people and helped communities take practical steps to reduce their energy bills and their environmental impact. By working in partnership, we’re able to ensure funding reaches grassroots organisations and respond to issues that matter most locally.”
