1999

Our story
Founded.  First meeting of the board was held on October 13,  a1999 with chair Keith Arnold, and directors John Curteis, John Tree, Ken Abram, Pearl Criddle and apologies from Andrew Reid, John Pathy and Charles Middleton.

2004

Our story
Celebrations as the foundation marks its first £1m in total grants awarded. Amongst the organisations supported in this year were Menai Bridge Heritage Trust and Aberdyfi Partnership.

2006

Trustees announce that the foundation has reached £1 million in endowment.

2007

Achieved Charity Commission endorsed Quality Accreditation Award.

2011

The Prince of Wales agrees to become a patron.

2011

Selected as charity of choice for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton. Funds raised went to support carers and young carers in North Wales.

2012

The community foundation celebrates having distributed a fantastic £10 million through grant-making.

2014

Dr Dewi Davies became our first million pound donor, setting up a fund to support organisations and community groups in North West Carmarthenshire and South Ceredigion. Dr Davies wanted to give back to the community where he grew up, hoping to address some of the challenges faced by young people, the elderly and disadvantaged people in a rural part of the country.

2015

The foundation's endowment funds reaches the £10 million landmark.

2018

Community Foundation Wales celebrates investing £25 million in Welsh communities through its grant-making. Our grant-making supports five themes - educating and young people, communities, health, culture and environment.
