Principality Building Society’s Funds
Principality Building Society Funds aim to create a lasting legacy by investing in projects that address the economic, social, environmental and cultural wellbeing of young people in Wales.
Our Future Generations Fund, together with our Retrofit for the Future Fund, will take our funding through Community Foundation Wales past the £1.5 million mark, and bring the numbers of groups supported to well over 100, demonstrating the impact beyond scale that we create as a business.
Principality Building Society’s Future Generations Fund
The Future Generations Fund is a Wales wide fund set up in partnership with Principality Building Society with the aim of having a positive impact in communities and the lives of young people in Wales.
We share 3% of our profit before tax every year, working with expert partners like Community Foundation Wales. We view our impact activities through a sustainability, inclusion and social value lens and our positive vision for society, the economy and the environment is embedded in our strategic direction and aligned with our business purpose as a mutual building society.
Principality Building Society Retrofit for the Future Fund
The new Principality Building Society Retrofit for the Future Fund is focused specifically on supporting organisations across Wales with retrofit projects designed to regenerate community buildings and spaces, improving their energy efficiency and long-term sustainability and making them more environmentally efficient.

Tony Smith
Chief Impact and Governance Officer at Principality Building Society
“Through our Future Generations Fund, we’re committed to achieving the Wales Wellbeing of Future Generations goals, helping to shape a more sustainable and equitable future for everyone, especially underrepresented young people. We want future generations to feel hopeful, supported and empowered, finding their sense of purpose and living in a fairer society where their hopes and aspirations feel possible.
Our large grant funding from our Retrofit for the Future Fund will be a building block to bring places and spaces back to life that exist at the heart of communities, particularly those facing challenges. These buildings simply haven’t had the investment they need to make them viable, accessible and environmentally sustainable. With upgrades such as solar panels, heat pumps, battery storage, insulation and energy efficient lighting we’ll also help to uplift the communities they serve.”
