The Hawarden & District Relief in Need Fund aims to help individuals with limited resources or those considered to be in crisis. Individuals require a registered organisation to apply on their behalf and to act as a referrer.
Funding from the Hawarden & District Relief in Need Fund (Individuals) has previously been used to:
- purchase of critical household items, e.g. white goods, bedding, and carpets, etc.
- purchase items essential to alleviating the suffering of food and fuel poverty (e.g., food parcels, blankets, hot water bottles, thermals, boiler repairs).
- carry out essential repairs to property and/or redecoration.
Grants Available
Organisations applying on behalf of an individual can apply for grants up to £1,000 per year (12 month rolling period).
Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate exactly how they will meet the Fund’s objectives and priorities, and who have not previously received support from this Fund.
Who can apply?
- Organisations working with individuals in crisis living in the ancient parish of Hawarden
The ancient parish of Hawarden consists of the following modern wards: Aston, Broughton North East, Buckley, Pentrobin, Ewloe, Hawarden, Mancot, Saltney, Mold Junction, Queensferry, Saltney Stonebridge, Sealand, Shotton East, Shotton Higher, Shotton West.
- Individuals need to be registered and working with the organisation who is supporting them. Organisations such as a local council departments, the NHS and health bodies, Care & Repair, local Citizens Advice Bureau, Local Voluntary Council, have applied previously on behalf of individuals to the Fund.
- The organisation will apply on behalf of the individual. The organisation will need to be registered with Community Foundation Wales and be willing to act both as applicant on behalf of the individual and as a referrer.

Please make sure individuals and projects are based within the ancient parish of Hawarden consists of the following modern wards: Aston, Broughton North East, Buckley Pentrobin, Ewloe, Hawarden, Mancot, Saltney Mold Junction, Queensferry, Saltney Stonebridge, Sealand, Shotton East, Shotton Higher, Shotton West.
Please note:
- Grants will not be awarded retrospectively i.e. for costs incurred before receipt of our grant offer letter, and the signed terms and conditions have been returned.
- Grants are not available to support fundraising for other groups and charities.
- Grants must be fully spent within one year of receipt of our offer letter.
- The application must show a clear need for financial support, financial hardship or additional support needs.
An individual cannot have more than one grant from the same Fund. If you currently have a grant and want to apply again for the same fund, the start date of your new application needs to be after the end date of your current grant.
