Playgroup’s garden of learning

Wrexham Community Endowment Fund

“The children can see the growth of plants, vegetables and flowers, which is part of the national curriculum. The children love being outdoors and this is a good learning development for them.”

Bellevue Playgroup provides safe and stimulating development play through the national curriculum for children aged 2 to 4 years. Community Foundation Wales awarded them £750 to fund an outdoor planting project for the children.

Learning about the process of plant growth is now a requirement of pre-school education so Bellevue Playgroup needed to provide a project that enabled the children to develop their learning in this area.

Wrexham Council provided them with an additional small area in their local park for the project so they used our funding to purchase equipment, soil, seeds and plants so the children can dig the ground, plant seeds and nurture and monitor growth.

The children really enjoy gardening activities and learning about the growth of plants and vegetables and the council love what Bellevue Playgroup have done with the new planting area in the park and want to support future outdoor initiatives.
