Community Foundation Wales achieves Cynnig Cymraeg status
Community Foundation Wales has been officially acknowledged for its dedication to promoting the Welsh language by securing the Cynnig Cymraeg (Welsh Offer) approval.
This recognition, awarded by the Welsh Language Commissioner, highlights organisations that collaborate with the Commissioner’s team to develop and implement Welsh language provisions.
For over 25 years, Community Foundation Wales has been supporting charities and community groups with funding to strengthen communities across Wales. Working with their generous supporters, they reach the people most in need and help to create positive change in Welsh communities.
As part of its commitment to bilingualism, Community Foundation Wales provides Welsh and English support to donors and grantees alike, offering bilingual newsletters, a comprehensive bilingual toolkit, and actively promoting the use of the Welsh language in all aspects of its work.
The Cynnig Cymraeg approval underpins the Community Foundation Wales’ ongoing efforts to celebrate and integrate the Welsh language in its mission to build stronger, more inclusive communities.
Efa Gruffudd Jones, Welsh Language Commissioner said:
“The Cynnig Cymraeg gives organisations the opportunity to raise awareness of their Welsh language services that will in turn lead to an increase in the use of Welsh in our day to day lives. Community Foundation Wales has a strong track record in offering support for charities and community groups across Wales and recognises the need and the value of being able to do so bilingually.
In congratulating Community Foundation Wales on its success I would urge people to take advantage of what they have to offer and encourage other similar organisations to work with us to develop and improve their Welsh language services.”
Richard Williams, Chief Executive of Community Foundation Wales said:
“We are honoured to have received the Cynnig Cymraeg approval from the Welsh Language Commissioner.
This recognition reflects our commitment to championing the Welsh language by making it is a natural and integral part of all aspects of our work, from the services we provide to the way we engage with our communities.
We recognise the importance but also the benefits of working bilingually, and how important this is for our valued supporters and partners across Wales.’’
