So much more than another report…

As I see it, the standards of governance for the charity sector are a good deal higher than other sectors.

Funding challenges are laid bare. The comings and goings of Trustees on our boards are there for all to see. Even the attendance rates at board meetings. This year, for the first time, we have gone further and issued a breakdown of the make-up of our staff and Trustee board.

This level of transparency is important to us, to share our successes but also to better understand where we are going, and some of the steps that we will need to take to get there.

Good governance and transparency are foundations for any charity.

We rely on the support, understanding and good will of supporters who share our aims of creating a better Wales with stronger communities.

To achieve that, the public has to have confidence that their donations and support are being well-used.

This is why the publication of the Community Foundation Wales annual report is a big day for the charity. It’s our opportunity to share our story.

You will find inspiring stories showing how a little funding can often go a long way in galvanising a community to do great things. You’ll read about brilliant partnerships between organisations who share the same values. All of this and, like every other charity, page after page of transparency about how we run our organisation.

My colleagues have worked hard at our annual report this year – go, take a look and see what you think…
